The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has arrested Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, over suspected financial irregularities during his tenure at the state-owned company.

A source confirmed to Citi News that Mr Jumah was picked up at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

The arrest comes days after EOCO operatives raided his private residence in Kumasi (Atonsu), although details of items retrieved during that operation have not been officially disclosed.

According to individuals familiar with the probe, the investigation centres on possible breaches of public financial management protocols and procurement procedures while he served as Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries.

The development forms part of a broader series of high-profile investigations targeting former public officials, as the current administration intensifies efforts to scrutinise the management of state resources and public funds.

Mr Jumah, who also previously served as Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has been a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
