GFA charges Hearts of Oak, player for misconduct during Kotoko clash

The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has charged Hearts of Oak and their midfielder Hussein Mohammed for misconduct during their Week Nine Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko.

The Phobians suffered a 1–0 defeat to their arch-rivals, courtesy of Morifing Donzo’s penalty. The loss came after referee Reginald Collins Amoah disallowed Mawuli Wayo’s stoppage-time equaliser for offside.

In a statement, the GFA accused Hearts of Oak of failing to control their players, who allegedly confronted the referee “in a disorderly manner” after the final whistle. Supporters were also cited for throwing objects onto the field of play.

Midfielder Hussein Mohammed has been individually charged with assaulting referee Amoah as the official, under police protection, headed to the tunnel.

Both Hearts of Oak and Hussein Mohammed have until Tuesday, November 11, to respond to the charges.

The defeat marked Hearts of Oak’s first loss of the season, dropping them to fifth place on the league table with 16 points.
