GFA to name new Black Stars coach today – Sports Minister

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to announce a new head coach for the Black Stars today, Monday, April 13, 2026, Sports Minister Kofi Adams has disclosed.

The Minister indicated that the selection process is in its final stages, with only a few outstanding consultations remaining before a final decision is reached.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Sunday, April 12, Mr Adams expressed optimism about the timeline, stating that authorities have been engaging shortlisted candidates to secure the best possible person for the job.

“Hopefully, if by this weekend we don’t announce the coach, by Monday we should be able to announce our new coach. We’ve come very far. They still have a few more to talk to, and they have finished talking to those few,” he said.

The appointment comes after the GFA parted ways with Otto Addo following a series of poor results, including four consecutive friendly losses.

The Association’s Executive Committee has been reviewing a shortlist of candidates as part of the rigorous decision-making process. Once the final choice is made, the GFA will engage the government to finalise the necessary arrangements.

The new coach is expected to stabilise the senior national team and improve its performance as Ghana prepares for upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Reports suggest the shortlist includes experienced international managers such as Carlos Queiroz, Fernando Santos, and Paulo Bento.
