The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that all participants attending the upcoming Diaspora Summit 2025 will be granted visas on gratis (free of charge) to facilitate their travel to Ghana.

The two-day summit is scheduled to take place from December 19 to 20, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

In a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the Ministry said the decision honours a commitment made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, during the official media launch of the summit.

The visa-free gesture is intended to encourage greater participation by Africans on the continent and people of African descent in the diaspora in the landmark event, which aims to deepen cooperation, foster partnerships, and advance shared development goals.

Prospective participants have been urged to apply for the complimentary visas at the nearest Ghanaian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate in their countries of residence well in advance of their travel.

The Ministry also reminded the public that online registration for the summit closes on Monday, December 8, 2025. Interested persons can register via the official website: www.diasporasummitghana.org.

The Ministry further noted that citizens of several countries already enjoy visa-free entry into Ghana under reciprocal agreements.

Holders of ordinary passports from Barbados, Bahamas, Dominica, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa, Kenya, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore, Sao Tome and Principe, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Rwanda, Morocco, Guyana, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Malawi, and Grenada are exempt from visa requirements. Similarly, holders of diplomatic, official, or service passports from Brazil, Colombia, China, Cuba, Germany, Sudan, Türkiye, Namibia, Hungary, Iran, India, Equatorial Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Venezuela, Malta, and the United Arab Emirates also qualify for visa-free entry.

The Ministry encouraged all prospective attendees to finalise their visa and registration processes promptly and directed enquiries to its official communication channels.

It reaffirmed government’s determination to make the 2025 Diaspora Summit a resounding success.
