High Court approves freezing of Miracles Aboagye’s assets by EOCO

The High Court in Accra has granted an application by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to freeze the assets of Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a leading communication figure for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The court order targets five bank accounts and four landed properties linked to the prominent politician, who served as the Director of Communications for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential campaign.

This judicial directive effectively restricts any transactions involving these assets while state investigators dig deeper into the financial affairs of the respondent.

The legal action is on the back of an ongoing investigation into the management of state funds during Aboagye’s tenure as a Presidential Staffer and the Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).

Investigators are looking into allegations of financial misappropriation, theft, and procurement irregularities spanning the period between 2022 and 2025.

The total amount under scrutiny in the high-stakes corruption probe is estimated to be around GH¢55 million.

State prosecutors sought the freezing order to prevent the potential dissipation of assets that could be vital to the developing case, which recently saw Aboagye released on a GH¢50 million bail bond.

Despite the intense legal scrutiny, Miracles Aboagye who also previously served as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akuapem North, has maintained his innocence and recently declared his bid to contest as the NPP’s National Communications Director.
