Presidential Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has called on Ghanaian digital media creators to uphold strict ethical standards and always seek consent where necessary before publishing content.
Delivering her remarks as Guest of Honour at the maiden Digital Media Creators Networking and Capacity Building Conference organised by The1957News on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Joyce Bawah Mogtari stressed the importance of respecting privacy and individual rights in the digital space.
“When we talk about ethics of the digital media, these are about the privacy of the people that you want to have in your videos, in your content… You must also remember that your freedoms pretty much have limits on them, especially when those freedoms affect another person’s rights,” she said.
She shared personal experiences of unauthorised use of her images and videos, noting that such practices often create wrong impressions and can damage reputations.
The Presidential Adviser urged creators to ask themselves key questions before publishing any content.
“Anytime you have content that you want to share, ask yourself… do you have consent? Once you can answer objectively to all of these, the rest is easy,” she said.
The conference, held at Conclave Meetings & Events in Accra, brought together digital creators to discuss capacity building, collaboration, and responsible content creation in Ghana’s fast-growing digital media landscape.
