President John Dramani Mahama is set to address the nation on Wednesday, 7th May 2025, to provide an update on the progress of the 120-Day Social Contract—a campaign promise he made in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
According to the Minister of State in charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the update is a crucial opportunity for Ghanaians to evaluate the President’s performance so far. He urged all citizens to tune in to the live broadcast.
“On Wednesday, the President will deliver a national broadcast in which he will account for his stewardship over the past four months—or 120 days,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said.
“I encourage Ghanaians to listen in and assess how well he has fulfilled the promises he made to the people.”
Over the last four months, President Mahama has fulfilled several key pledges outlined in his 120-day agenda. These include the formation of a leaner government, convening a National Economic Dialogue, launching the ‘Tree for Life’ and ‘Blue Water Initiative’, establishing the Mahama Cares Health Fund, and abolishing the E-Levy, Bet Tax, and Emissions Levy.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu also indicated that the President will announce further initiatives during his address.
“President Mahama enters a significant week, during which stock will be taken of the implementation of his 120-day social contract. It begins tomorrow with the unveiling of a strict Code of Conduct to regulate the activities of all appointees and ensure transparency and accountability in government,” he added.
The 120-Day Social Contract was a key component of President Mahama’s 2024 manifesto, designed to “reset Ghana” through swift, targeted reforms. The initiative outlined 28 policies aimed at addressing the nation’s pressing challenges and setting the tone for long-term development.
