The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially scheduled its National Delegates Conference for Saturday, December 19, 2026, where delegates will elect a new set of national executives.
Announcing the date during a press conference in Accra on Thursday, January 29, 2026, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey explained that the party’s internal election process will follow a structured bottom-to-top approach.
It will begin with elections at the branch level, proceed through constituency and regional conferences, and conclude with the national gathering in December.
Mr Kwetey outlined the key dates for the exercise. Nominations for interested aspirants will open from Saturday, November 7, 2026, and close on Monday, November 9, 2026.
Vetting of all nominees is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13, 2026. Appeals against vetting decisions will be heard on Sunday, November 15, and Monday, November 16, 2026.
The party will also hold its Youth and Women’s Conference on Saturday, December 12, 2026, ahead of the main national delegates conference a week later on December 19.
According to the General Secretary, this carefully timed process forms a vital part of the NDC’s preparations to reorganise and reinforce its structures as the party positions itself for the 2028 general elections.
He described the exercise as an essential foundation for the party’s continued efforts to retain political power and build on its current governance achievements.
