The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and JP Trustees have officially launched Phase Two of the 24-Hour Economy Pilot Programme in the petroleum downstream sector at the JP Spintex Service Station.
The launch, held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, under the theme “Promoting the 24-Hour Economy Program in the Downstream Petroleum Value Chain,” forms part of the national reset agenda aimed at enhancing productivity, job creation, and economic resilience.
Delivering the welcome address, Joshua Larbi, Chief Business Officer of JP Trustees, underscored the importance of the initiative.
“By extending our operations, we are not just selling fuel around the clock; we are fueling the engines of commerce, logistics, and security that will drive Ghana toward a more resilient and export-led economy,” Mr. Larbi said.
He commended the NPA for its regulatory guidance and praised industry collaborators, including the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) and the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).
Mr. Larbi emphasised that infrastructure readiness and safety are critical for the success of the 24-hour operations.
“As we prepare for the ribbon cutting and our subsequent engagement with the drivers who keep our economy moving, let us remember that today is about testing what works and identifying the gaps to ensure productivity never comes at the expense of safety,” he added.
The pilot programme is expected to assess operational effectiveness and address challenges while upholding high safety standards.
