The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of two additional suspects linked to the notorious 2024 daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Adabraka, Accra, where armed robbers stole approximately GH¢7.5 million in proceeds from a gold transaction.
The arrests, carried out through the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police, took place on January 7, 2026, in Ashaiman. The suspects have been identified as Hamza Agerego, also known as Nene Bawku or Lambert, and Alhassan Elliasu, also known as Arab Man.
According to a police statement released on January 9, 2026, Hamza Agerego was first apprehended and detained at the Katamanso District Police Headquarters in connection with the robbery. Following intelligence-led operations, Alhassan Elliasu was subsequently arrested at his hideout in Ashaiman.
A thorough search of the premises yielded a significant cache of weapons and items, including two pump-action guns, forty-three (43) rounds of AK47 ammunition, two hundred and thirty-nine (239) BB cartridges, four bulletproof vests, one black boot, one black face mask, two cutlasses, two Samsung mobile phones, one iPhone 13, a wristwatch, and a CCTV monitor.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and are expected to be arraigned in court to face charges related to the crime.
The incident in question occurred on November 2, 2024, when a group of armed robbers attacked a jewellery shop in Adabraka, making off with GH¢7.5 million that was being transported to a bank following a gold deal.
This latest development follows previous arrests, including that of key suspect Salim Mohammed, alias Fariwata, who was apprehended in November 2025 while seeking medical treatment in Ashaiman.
