A Police Inspector in the Ashanti Region has been interdicted and remanded into custody for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a mobile money vendor in Kumasi.
According to a report by Asaase Radio, the suspect, Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah, who was stationed at the Asuoyeboah Police Station, was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in an intelligence-led operation.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, a search conducted at the officer’s residence led to the recovery of a Bruni Model 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and cash amounting to GH¢9,835.
In a statement, the Regional Police Command said Inspector Dankwah has been interdicted pending the outcome of investigations.
The suspect appeared before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on Monday and was remanded into police custody. He is scheduled to reappear in court on May 29, 2026.
