Remove, retract, and render unqualified apology over Lexus gift allegations – Sam George’s lawyers demand of NPP activist

Lawyers for the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, have issued a demand notice to an NPP activist on Facebook, P.K. Sarpong, requesting an unqualified apology over allegations that the minister received a Lexus vehicle as a gift, contrary to the Code of Conduct.

P.K. Sarpong, who has 33,000 followers on Facebook, made a post approximately 18 hours ago calling the President’s attention to a Lexus Super Sport the minister was spotted in. He alleged that the vehicle was a gift from an undisclosed individual, which he believes violates a section of the Code of Conduct. The post has so far garnered 47,200 views.

Sam George’s lawyers have demanded the immediate removal of the post, describing it as a false publication. They also insist on a public retraction and an unqualified apology to the minister within seven (7) days.

In the letter addressed to P.K. Sarpong, the lawyers stated:

“We demand the following actions be taken within seven (7) days of the date of this letter, by 27th May 2025:

  1. The immediate removal of the said false publication from your Facebook wall.
  2. A public retraction of the statement, issued in the same manner and to the same audience as the original publication.
  3. An unqualified apology to our client.

Failure or refusal to comply with these demands will leave us with no option but to initiate legal proceedings against you, including but not limited to a defamation suit, without further notice.” They wrote

The lawyers described P.K. Sarpong’s claims as categorically false and accused him of publishing the post with the intent to tarnish the image of the Minister. They further instructed him to desist from making any further false publications about the Minister.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Sam George urged P.K. Sarpong to heed the demands to avoid legal consequences.

“Mr. P.K. Sarpong,
Notice is hereby served for you to do the needful or prepare to face the full consequences of your reckless indiscretion,” he wrote.
