Sophia Akpaloo, the elder sister of Ghanaian politician Kofi Akpaloo, could not contain her excitement after her brother’s release from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Speaking to The1957News, she said, “I’m Sophia Akpaloo, senior sister of Kofi Akpaloo. He’s the coming president. He’s been in for 8 days and we’re excited he’s released, no talking.”
Sophia expressed her joy through song and dance, repeatedly singing “Yɛdi Nkunim”, a popular Ghanaian gospel hymn which translates as “We are victorious, and we’ll keep winning.” Her spontaneous celebration captured the relief and happiness of family members after more than a week of detention.
Kofi Akpaloo is the founder and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), a political party established with the vision of offering alternative governance and economic policies. He has contested in Ghana’s general elections and continues to present himself as a key contender in the country’s political space. His supporters see him as a voice for reform and development, while his party has consistently campaigned on messages of economic empowerment and social justice.
