The international governing body of association football, FIFA is set to allow the wives and girlfriends of players to visit their partners at their team hotels during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In a statement issued by FIFA, Players wives and girlfriends will only be allowed to spend time with thier partners at their respective team hotels on the condition that the wives and girlfriends forward their names to FIFA as part of security arrangements.
This is the very first time the world cup will be hosted in the Middle East and also the first time ever an Islamic nation will be hosting the tournament, this has drawn a lot of controversies with regards to certain practises been banned during the Mondial in November and December this year.
With alcohol consumption, prostitution (which is illegal in Qatar) and other anti-Islamic practices confirmed to be banned during the tournament, FIFA has agreed to allow wives and girlfriends of players to visit their partners during the showpiece.
