The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has reported substantial financial recoveries and the seizure of high-value assets in the second half of 2025, as outlined in its Half-Yearly Report for July to December 2025.
These actions form part of the office’s ongoing anti-corruption operations, which have targeted illicit wealth accumulation linked to several high-profile investigations.
The OSP successfully recovered significant sums of money that were redirected to the national treasury. This included US$2 million returned to the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), more than GH₵8.5 million recovered from an investigation into the diversion of petroleum products, and nearly GH₵952,000 in cash seized during the arrest and probe of suspects in the prominent case The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others.
In its most extensive asset seizure to date, the OSP took possession of a wide range of commercial and residential properties, largely connected to the ongoing National Petroleum Authority (NPA) extortion and money laundering investigation. Among the seized assets were four fuel stations situated in Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, Opeikuma, and Millennium City (Kasoa), together with 23 fuel tanker trucks.
The office also acquired several luxury residential properties, including a two-storey mansion in East Legon valued at GH₵12.7 million, a two-storey building in Adjiringanor worth GH₵10 million, and a six-unit block of buildings in Agbogba also valued at GH₵10 million. In addition, multiple high-end apartment units were seized in some of Accra’s premier developments such as The Signature, The Lennox, The Bantree, and The Address, with individual unit values ranging between GH₵1.4 million and GH₵3.5 million.
Furthermore, the OSP secured large strategic land parcels located in Tamale, Haatso, Adenta, and Kumasi, with their combined worth estimated in the tens of millions of cedis.
As part of the same MIIF-related probe, authorities impounded an impressive fleet of luxury vehicles collectively valued at approximately GH₵18.6 million. The seized collection featured top-tier models such as a Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800 S/W, a Rolls Royce Mansory Phantom S/C, a Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680 S/C, along with several Toyota Land Cruisers and Lexus vehicles.
The OSP used the opportunity to commend President John Dramani Mahama for his prompt and decisive intervention in blocking a Private Member’s Bill that would have repealed the Office of the Special Prosecutor and reassigned its functions to the Attorney-General.
“The Office highly commends the President – and the nation has His Excellency to thank – for the swift and decisive call for the withdrawal of the bill,” the report noted.
The OSP reaffirmed its dedication to recovering proceeds of corruption, protecting public resources, and promoting accountability, while calling for continued cooperation from citizens and institutions in the national anti-graft campaign.
