Government, labour agree on 9% and 10% pay rises for 2027, 2028
Public sector workers are set to receive a 9% increase in total remuneration in 2027, effective January 1, following an agreement between the government and Organised Labour.
The adjustment comprises an 8% increase in base pay and a 1% allocation for conditions of service.
Secretary-General of Organised Labour, Joshua Ansah, announced the agreement on Wednesday after a meeting of the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee.
The two parties have also agreed to a 10% across-the-board pay increase for 2028, effective January 1. The adjustment will be calculated based on the applicable wage bill as of December 31, 2027.
The agreement is subject to the applicable legislative process.
