Asante Kotoko SC presents the GPL trophy to Otumfuo Osei Tutu for blessings

The reigning champions of the just-ended 2021/2022 edition of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, have presented the trophy to their club patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the Asantehene.

The club, on Monday, June 13, 2022, stormed the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom and the home of His Majesty Osei Tutu II, to present the trophy to the club’s owner.

As seen in a post on Facebook by the Manhyia Palace on Monday, June 13, 2022,

the Ashanti Kotoko delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer of the club, Nana Yaw Amponsah.

Other members who were at the event were Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum, the head coach of the club; the management and other technical team members; the leadership of the supporters’ groups; and members of the playing body.

“His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, Owner and Life Patron of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club was presented with the Ghana Premier League Cup and medal,”

“The presentation was done by the Asante Kotoko SC at Manhyia Palace. Present were the club’s CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Head Coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, the Management and Technical Team, and Leadership of the supporter’s group amongst many others,” the post reveals.

Ashanti Kotoko Sporting Club won this year’s edition of the Ghana Premier with 66 points, ten (10) points ahead of their runner-up, Tarkwa-based Medeama Football Club, after 33 matches.

Ashanti Kotoko scored 47 goals and also received 19 goals from their opponents throughout the competition.
