New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has stated that former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia holds no place in his life, emphasising that the 2024 presidential candidate “does not exist” to him.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based United Television (UTV) on Monday, December 19, 2025, the Assin Central Member of Parliament said, “I do not have time for Dr Bawumia. In my life, he does not exist, because if he existed, I might commit a crime. That is how I see myself.”
Mr Agyapong accused Dr Bawumia of being behind controversial statements made by the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, but declined to elaborate further.
The outspoken MP also issued a stern warning against any attempts to manipulate the upcoming NPP flagbearership election.
“I do not have time for them, but that does not mean they have to rig the election. I believe in the structures, and I know all the Electoral Commission officials my opponents have engaged with. They plan to use the party’s internal security to humiliate anyone who comes close,” he alleged.
Recalling an incident at the residence of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Mr Agyapong claimed his comments had been misrepresented on social media.
“Some time ago, something happened at the residence of former President Akufo-Addo. I mentioned a certain man’s name; there was nobody there when I left. The next day, it was posted on social media, but I do not have anything against anybody,” he explained.
Mr Agyapong further expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of appreciation for his efforts during the 2024 election campaign.
“Did I not campaign for him during the recent election? After that, did he even call me to appreciate my efforts? His followers were even insulting me,” he lamented.
He, however, praised 2024 presidential running mate and former Energy Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as the only loyal figure from Dr Bawumia’s camp, noting that he had supported NAPO by providing items from his warehouse.
“The only loyal person from his camp was NAPO. I took him to my warehouse and gave out items freely. He had young boys who claimed that I never campaigned,” Mr Agyapong added.
