The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, Ralph Poku-Adusei, has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries as well-earned and a confirmation of the strong confidence that party delegates have in his leadership.
The Bekwai MP made the remarks during a courtesy call on Dr. Bawumia by members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament on Tuesday, following the NPP presidential primaries held on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Dr. Bawumia, the former Vice President, secured the party’s flagbearership for the 2028 general elections with a decisive 56.48% of the votes, polling 110,643 out of the total valid votes cast.
Speaking at the engagement, Poku-Adusei noted that the primary results clearly reflect the trust delegates place in Dr. Bawumia’s track record and vision.
He added that the victory gives the NPP a clear sense of direction as the party ramps up early preparations and engagements ahead of the next general election.
The Minority Caucus delegation used the occasion to formally congratulate Dr. Bawumia on his victory and reaffirmed their full support for the party’s broader political agenda and efforts to return to power in 2028.
In response, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to the MPs for the visit and appreciated the continued backing from the parliamentary caucus following the primaries.
