Dennis Miracles Aboagye has disputed claims that he was questioned by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over a GH¢55 million matter following his arrest.
The NPP Communications Director hopeful said EOCO never discussed any GH¢55 million allegation with him during the period he was detained.
“For the records: There was no discussion of any GH¢55 million cedis with me by EOCO. None!” he said.
Miracles Aboagye made the comments after he was released on bail following his arrest at the Kotoka International Airport.
The arrest was carried out by EOCO with assistance from Immigration officers after he announced his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the NPP.
The anti-graft agency subsequently granted him GH¢50 million bail with three sureties, two of whom are to be justified.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Mr Aboagye said the narrative put out by EOCO in relation to his arrest was false.
“Four days ago, just one day after I declared my intention to serve our great party as National Communications Director, I was picked up and detained by EOCO. A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth, will prevail!” he said.
He thanked party supporters who protested his arrest and said their actions demonstrated their commitment to defending democratic principles.
He maintained that the incident would not affect his political ambitions, saying he remained ready to lead the NPP’s Communications Directorate.
In a statement following his arrest, EOCO said Miracles Aboagye and a former accountant of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), were being investigated for alleged financial and procurement irregularities involving about GH¢55 million in public funds.
EOCO further revealed that the former accountant, Gerald Appiah, had already started refunding some of the alleged loot ahead of possibly being charged.
