Ignore the false news – Malik Basintale dismisses stroke scare

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has dismissed viral rumours claiming he suffered a stroke and was rushed to the United Kingdom for treatment.

In a post on social media on Saturday, Basintale, who also serves as the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), described the rumour as baseless and urged the public to disregard the misinformation.

“Kurugu Toli: ton ton je!! Ignore the false news. No stroke, No UK!” he wrote.

The rumours gained traction following a video circulated by Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.

In the footage, Abronye claimed Basintale had been absent from work for about a month due to illness and was receiving treatment in the UK. He prayed for the 32-year-old’s recovery, referring to him as “the youngest CEO of any government agency in Ghana” and wishing for his swift return to duties.

Abronye’s comments came at a time when Basintale had been less active on social media, fuelling concerns among his followers and associates. Prior whispers had even suggested the YEA boss might have suffered a stroke, leading to a wave of unverified reports across online platforms.

However, an exclusive video sighted by The 1957News shows the YEA CEO in a hearty video call with an acquaintance.

Meanwhile, several members of the NDC have also taken to social media to dismiss the rumours, citing confirmation through phone calls with the party’s Deputy National Communications Officer.
