A man in possession of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp has been arrested by security officers at a government event.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, where the Ministry for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs was hosting an orientation program for the government’s 24-Hour Economy Model Markets initiative.

As exclusively reported by 1957 News, the suspect, who posed as a blogger, was seen taking videos and pictures during the event, which was attended by Regional Ministers, MMDCEs, and MMDAs.

His suspicious behavior drew the attention of security personnel, who interrogated him and subsequently discovered the suspected substance in his possession.

In addition to the suspected narcotics, a search of the suspect also revealed two Ghana Cards bearing the names Abban Richmond Sowah and Stephen Owusu, respectively.

Some individuals at the event identified the suspect as a known footsoldier of the opposition New Patriotic Party on social media.

The suspect was taken away by the police for further investigation.
