Parliament has approved an amount of GH¢1,690,643,682 for the activities of the Parliamentary Service for the year 2026.
The approval was made as part of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy appropriation during proceedings on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
In various commentaries, members of the House expressed concern over the adequacy of the amount in relation to the GH¢4 billion that had been requested by the Parliamentary Service.
Speaking on the floor of the House, the Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, acknowledged the concerns of the members but stressed the government’s commitment to meeting the demands of the legislative arm of government.
