The Central East Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested thirteen suspects in an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal activities in the Senya Beraku area of the Central Region.
The operation, conducted on December 17, 2025, involved raids at three different locations within the Senya Beraku enclave, a coastal community in the Awutu Senya West District.
According to a statement released by the Ghana Police Service on Friday, December 19, 2025, the team first targeted Kukwado, a coastal spot, where six suspects were apprehended along with substances suspected to be Indian hemp and related items.
Subsequently, four suspects, including one female, were arrested at a yellow house near a cemetery. Items recovered included dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, local laced gin known as ‘akpeteshie’ (laka), a 32-inch television set, and various brands of cigarettes.
The operation then moved to Awiaso, where three more suspects, including a female, were nabbed. Seized items there included dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a toy gun, shisha, local gin, and a game pot. The police team subsequently set the suspects’ hideout ablaze.
In total, thirteen suspects were arrested across the locations. They have been identified as Michael Essel (23), Frederick Koranteng (23), James Essel (24), Jones Koranteng (20), Daniel Essibu (30), Kofi Abbiw (28), Kofi Essibu (57), Klotey Poree (26), Bismark Sarbeng (26), Kojo Otoo (24), Thomas Quartey (22), Gladys Jackson (19), and Florence Adenue (25).
The suspects and all exhibits are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.
