The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian national, Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, who allegedly murdered a woman and her daughter in Nigeria before escaping to Ghana.
The suspect was apprehended in Wenchi, a suburb of Akwatia, following an intelligence-led operation sparked by a viral video circulating on social media. The video accused Fejemirokum of abducting and killing a female staff member of Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to police sources, Nigerian authorities had launched a manhunt for the suspect after the crime, but he crossed the border and sought refuge with friends in Ghana.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Eastern South Regional Command tracked him to his hideout in Wenchi and effected the arrest without resistance.
Fejemirokum is currently in custody as the Ghana Police Service coordinates with Nigerian authorities for his repatriation and prosecution.
The Regional Command has commended the swift collaboration between Ghanaian and Nigerian law enforcement agencies and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons to the nearest police station.
