AUCC Suspends 2023 SRC Elections

The award-winning Private Communication University, African University College of Communications, well-known as AUCC has suspended this year’s SRC Elections due to limited time for electoral undertakings.

The annual elections held to vote SRC Executives into power for every Academic year was scheduled for Thursday, 18th May, 2023, however, thoughtful considerations of the limited time for electoral undertakings by the school authorities warranted a suspension of the elections.

A communique signed by the Dean Of Students Affairs (DOSA) for the institution was circulated to the institution’s various platforms indicating clearly that, the SRC (Students Representative Council) elections had been suspended.

With regards to the communique circulated to the students body, the rationale behind the suspension of the elections was mainly hinged on the unavailability of ample time alloted to the vetted and qualified Aspirants.

“The decision to suspend the elections has been taken due to the limited time available to conduct a fair and organized election process”, the Dean stated in the communique.

In the quest to organize a free and fair elections among the entire school populace, students are admonished to have their fingers crossed for a new date for the elections which will be communicated in due time as the management of the institution are working assiduously towards the forthcoming to release a new date for the elections.

Prior to the suspension, the Electoral Commission for the AUCC-SRC via a communique, stated the dates for the execution of an online election. The outline of the electoral process was drafted as follows:

2nd – 4th May, 2023 – Filing and Closure of Nominations

4th – 17th May, 2023 – Campaign Period

15th May, 2023 – Vetting of Aspirants

16th May, 2023 – Display of Vetting Results

18th May, 2023 – Voting

19th May, 2023 – Display of Provisional Results

20th May – 21st May, 2023 – Display of Final Results

22nd May, 2023 – Run off (If any).

The Aspirants, their sympathizers and students from the said institution are currently in anticipation for the new date for the 2023 AUCC-SRC elections.
