The Manhyia Palace has urged the general public to disregard any reports, announcements or social media posts linking the Asante Kingdom or Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s palace to the planning and organization of the funeral and burial rites of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
The disclaimer was issued on Thursday morning by Opemsuo 104.7 FM, a media house closely associated with Manhyia Palace.
“Manhyia urges the general public to disregard any reports attempting to associate the Palace with matters concerning the preparations for the burial and funeral rites of Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba,” the notice read.
The notice by the palace comes on the back of the controversy around the funeral and burial of the music legend.
The head of Lumba’s family, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu and others on one hand are engaged in a litigation with the maternal family members of Daddy Lumba and his German-based wife, Akosua Serwaa on another hand over the planning of the funeral, widowhood rites and the date for the burial.
The Abusuapanyin has publicised Saturday, December 13, 2025, as the date for the funeral and burial while the opposing relatives insist on a later date.
