The Ghana Football Association has begun preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, approving a $310,000 honorarium for members of its newly restructured management committee.
According to Sports Minister Kofi Adams, each of the five committee members will receive $62,000. This information was revealed during his appearance before Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports.
The payment forms part of a broader budget submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
Following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the previous management team chaired by Mark Addo was dissolved, paving the way for the establishment of a new committee. The committee was formed to strengthen administrative coordination and oversee preparations for the resumption of the World Cup qualifiers.
COCOBOD boss Dr Randy Abbey has been selected as chairman, with former national captain Stephen Appiah serving as vice-chairman in charge of player relations.
Dr Richard Nsenkyire is responsible for special duties, while Moses Armah and Samuel Aboabire handle operational management aimed at improving team efficiency.
The Minister clarified that the $310,000 is strictly for committee honoraria and does not include player bonuses or other operational costs.
Ghana’s projected World Cup participation budget stands at $13.7 million, covering management payments, player incentives, training, logistics, and other tournament-related expenses.
The Black Stars will establish their base camp at Bryant University in the United States, where they will train and prepare for the tournament.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Their campaign begins on 17 June against Panama, followed by matches against England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.
