The Government of Ghana has officially endorsed the peace framework proposed by United States President Donald J. Trump to end the protracted war between Russia and Ukraine.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, December 1, 2025, Ghana welcomed the initiative, describing it as a constructive step toward lasting peace in the region.
“The Republic of Ghana reaffirms its unwavering commitment to global peace, stability, and the principles of international cooperation,” the statement read.
It added that any proposal that prioritizes dialogue, mutual respect, an immediate cessation of hostilities, the protection of civilian lives, restoration of territorial integrity, and the creation of conditions for long-term reconciliation “deserves the serious consideration of the international community.”
Drawing on Ghana’s long-standing tradition of peacekeeping and mediation on the African continent and beyond, the government declared its readiness to support all genuine efforts that advance these noble objectives.
The Ministry urged all parties involved in the conflict to approach negotiations in good faith and to prioritize the welfare and future of their people over political differences.
Ghana further pledged to continue working closely with regional bodies such as the African Union and ECOWAS, as well as global partners including the United Nations, to ensure peace, security, and prosperity prevail worldwide.
The endorsement comes as President Trump, who assumed office for his second non-consecutive term in January 2025, has made resolving the Russia-Ukraine war one of his administration’s top foreign policy priorities.
