The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, has paid glowing tribute to Ghanaian entrepreneurs for their resilience, innovation, and pivotal role in national development during Ghana Month celebrations.
Delivering a statement in Parliament, the MP emphasised the determination of business leaders who continue to drive economic growth despite persistent challenges such as limited access to capital, regulatory barriers, and inadequate infrastructure.
“As we celebrate and reflect on our nation’s journey since independence, it is equally important that we recognise the resilience and ingenuity of Ghanaian entrepreneurs who continue to drive economic growth despite the many challenges of doing business in our country,” Okyere Baafi stated.
He singled out Dr. Nick Danso Adjei, also known as Nick Danso Abeam, Executive Chairman of Ghana Link Network Services Limited, as a standout example of entrepreneurial excellence. Born in Bredi in the Nkoranza South District of the Bono East Region, Dr. Danso Adjei began petty trading at age eleven and has since built a diversified business empire.
“His journey from these humble beginnings to becoming a leading figure in Ghana’s private sector is both inspiring and instructive,” the MP noted.
Under Dr. Danso Adjei’s leadership, the Nick Group of Companies now spans trade facilitation, logistics, energy, construction materials, and hospitality. The group includes Ghana Link Network Services Ltd, Nick TC-Scan (operating in Ghana and Gambia), Misyl Energy BDC, Nick Petroleum, and Golden Cement Ghana Limited. These businesses, according to the MP, have introduced innovative solutions in trade facilitation and inspection, while creating substantial employment and contributing to economic expansion in Ghana and parts of West Africa.
Dr. Danso Adjei’s achievements have been recognised with awards such as Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2022 Ghana Business Awards, Entrepreneur of the Year at the 5th Ghana Shippers Awards, and similar honours at the 2023 Ghana CEO Vision, Exhibition and Awards.
Michael Okyere Baafi described Dr. Danso Adjei’s story as “a reminder that Ghanaian entrepreneurs, when given the opportunity and the right environment, can compete globally while contributing meaningfully to national development.”
The MP also acknowledged other visionary Ghanaian business leaders, including Mr. Ibrahim Mahama of Engineers and Planners, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong of the Jospong Group of Companies, Mr. Daniel McKorley (McDan) in logistics and shipping, and the late Samuel Kwadjo Agyapong Appenteng of Intravenous Infusions PLC. These entrepreneurs, he said, collectively represent “the resilience, ingenuity, and transformative potential of Ghanaian entrepreneurship.”
He commended government policies such as the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative for partnering with private entrepreneurs to establish industries across the country, deepen local production, and nurture a new generation of industrialists.
“As we celebrate Ghana Month, let us use this moment to honor the achievements of these individuals and to reaffirm our collective commitment to building an enabling environment that supports entrepreneurship, innovation, and private sector growth,” he Baafi concluded.
