Perez Chapel declares a one-week fast concerning Nogokpo controversy

Perez Chapel International has declared a one-week fast concerning the controversy that has arisen over the statement Archbishop Charles Agyinasare made about Nogokpo being the “demonic headquarters of the Volta Region”.

The declaration for the fast comes on the back of the chiefs of Nogokpo giving the televangelist a 14-day ultimatum to appear before them to resolve the issue.

The Presiding Bishop of Perez Chapel International, Benjamin Ohene Aboagye announced the decision by the Perez Executive Council for their churches worldwide to fast.

In addressing the congregants during their Sunday service today, June 4, 2023, he stated that they are declaring a fast from June 5th to June 11th, and all pastors, deacons, and members are to get involved.

“On the 25th of last month, during our Supernatural Empowerment Summit, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare made a statement concerning the Nogokpo issue. I think we are all aware of the issue in Ghana. It is trending on social media and other platforms. We, the Perez Council, on behalf of the Executive Council, have taken notice of all these things and this is what the Executive Council is saying. We are declaring a one-week fast from the 5th to the 11th of this month, and we expect all pastors, elders, deacons, deaconesses, and all our churches to participate in this fast for one week. We believe that God is our helper. He is our rock. He is the one we look up to. So this is the decision we have taken for now. We expect everyone [in all our branches] to take part in this fast,” he said.

Archbishop Charles Agyinasare issued an apology to Nogokpo and its people, saying that the statements he made were a demonstration he cited to teach believers how to activate the protection of God and not necessarily to cast a slur on the township.

Following a press conference that was held by the Cheif and people of Nogokpo in the Ketu South Municipality, Nufialaga Mawufemor Korbla Nonyigbey, the convenor of the community, remarked that the televangelist did not show any remorse for the statements he made and has therefore tarnished the image of the town and also deliberately did that to weaken the African tradition.

Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, a Ghanaian Christian minister, international speaker, and author of several Christian books, made a statement three weeks ago during his Supernatural Empowerment Service at the Perez Dome that Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters of the Volta Region, which has raised a whole controversy. .
