Vinicius Jr. leaving Madrid after racial abuse not probable

Real Madrid Winger, Vinicius Jr. could leave Real Madrid as rumours presume following racists attacks from Valencia fans in a match on Sunday where he was eventually sent off.

In a post by Madrid Xtra, an independent Real Madrid website that provides latest news, analysis and transfers and coverage, and other credible football websites, it was reported Vinicius Jr. was “on the edge” of leaving Real Madrid following the racial attacks in the Valencia match.

However, the Brazilian star has not shown interest in leaving Santiago Bernabeu despite the numerous racist abuse.

His teammates and other football  stars across leagues have demonstrated their support for the racism victim after he lamented over the racial attacks In the Spanish League.

French Forward, Kaylian Mbappe Also tweeted “you are not alone, we are with you and we support you”

Vinicius Jr. said “Racism is normal in La Liga” after he was sent off the opitch  after he was attacked by Valencian fans in the stands in a match.

In a  LaLiga fixture between Valencia and Real Madrid at Mestalla, the game had to come to a halt as refree received complains from Vinicius Jr. on the fans in the stands racially abusing him racially .

The refree calmed the enraged star and the play continued but the game ended abruptly for the Brazilian who was sent off the pitch after a VAR decision warranted a red card. He shoved Valencia Striker, Hugo Duro in an altercation between both sides sparked by the continuous racial abuse.

This amounts to a couple of  times the Winger has been racially abused in the league. “It wasn’t the first time, nor the second, nor the third,” Vinicius said. “Racism is normal in La Liga. The competition thinks it’s normal, the Federation does too and the opponents encourage it.” Vinicius stated.

La Liga President Javier Tebas, in a Twitter post has responded to Vinicius Jr.’s statements as he called them ‘insulting’ to the Spanish League. He further added that the Brazilian had not showed up for two agreed dates for discussions to curb the racial abuse. La Liga has committed to open an investigation concerning the whole matter. 


Carlo Ancelotti, Manager for Real Madrid described the player’s composure as “understandable”.

The Manager berated the incident and revealed he confronted the player on coming off the pitch but he insisted on continuing the match. In an interview, he bemoaned the racial situation in La Liga.

“I don’t want to talk about football today, there is no meaning in talking about football today. What we saw today is unacceptable. An entire stadium chanting racist slurs.I asked him if he wanted to keep playing, and he stayed in the game.” He said

“LaLiga have a problem here. For me Vinicius is the most important player in the world.  LaLiga has a problem, these episodes of racism have to stop the match.It’s the entire stadium that is insulting a player with racist chants and the match has to stop. I would say the same if we were winning 3-0, there is no other way.” He stated.

The management of Valecia has come out to chide the attitude of the fans and every act that sparked the incident. They stated they are opening an investigation into the act in order to bring its perpetrators to book.

“Valencia CF wish to publicly condemn insults and attacks of all kinds in football. Although this is an isolated episode, insults to any opposing player have no place in football and do not fit with the values and identity of Valencia CF. The club are investigating what occurred and will take the most severe measures against the perpetrators.” The statement read

“Valencia CF also condemn any offence and request the utmost respect for our fans. Whilst strongly denouncing these isolated incidents, Valencia CF would like to thank the more than 46,000 fans in attendance for their support for the team.” The statement read
